New Show “Mistresses” Makes Adultery Look Glamorous

What has happened to the sanctity of marriage?   I must admit I do watch the show Scandal and I am a fan of the creator’s previous work, but I am not too much a fan of the whole adulterous nature of the show.  Now ABC has a new show called “Mistresses” airing this week about a group of 4 women who break their marriage vows and unmarried women sleeping with married men.

I know this is all purely for entertainment and producers need something that can stir up ratings and adultery on television is nothing new, but what is this telling our future and where is the future of marriage and family heading? “If you see something you like, take it?”  “Even if they are married or if you are married, you can’t help the way your feel?”  Looks like adultery is the new “Norm”…..  Adios 7th Commandment.

The one thing that really irks me about this new show is how they are promoting it and making adultery look glamorous.  A group of beautiful women looking stunning in their flowing outfits walking along the beach and then a clip goes to them toasting, drinking wine and gossiping about last night’s escapades while all sitting in an impressively furnished and decorated living room.

Back in the day shows like the Cosby’s and the Keaton’s honored marriage and family.   Television has unfortunately taken a down turn due to what society responds to and what will bring in “higher ratings” which is more drama and sex.

The Tagline for ABC’s new show is: You can’t help who you fall in love with. …..Ummm, but you CAN choose not to sleep with a married person right??? I’m just saying.  I guess you all can say, I won’t be watching this new show, but for those who do, enjoy and let me know your thoughts.

Just a random thought!
